Regardless of the cause, stress sets in motion certain automatic changes in the body that are designed to give it a quick burst of energy. The pattern of changes has been called the “fight-or-flight” response because it most likely evolved from our prehistoric ancestors, who faced daily dangers in their search for food and shelter.

Dr. Carlo talks about how when we are confronted with a sudden stressor our bodies go into fight or flight mode (sympathetic nervous system dominant), and that generally the chemical fight or flight response of the body will be short lived and soon return back to a more normal relaxed state (parasympathetic nervous system dominant) . If our environment is heavily saturated with cell towers, iphones, and wireless technology, it becomes harder for the body to get back to the more relaxed parasympathetic state.
